It's kind of terrible to become a lone war-lord that keeps defeating enemy Lords just to imprison them and sell them back, so I can defeat them again. It is kind of counter-intuitive and the fact that I can't kill enemy war-lords in battle is disconcerting. Theoretically, executions would allow me to wage real Guerilla Warfare on a Kingdom, so I can start to take their Fiefs and Castles for myself after I kill enough of their generals.I'm going to look for that stand alone mod, if you have the link kariashi I would really appreciate it.
Like others have said, many many more features, the biggest being the ability to manage your own kingdom as a King/Queen and have lords who fight for you. Combat is improved (no more swinging through walls) and options expanded (the number of different troop types you can have in your army at once is increased to where I never ever run into the max if there is one). This is about as close to a Mount&Blade 2 as you can get without it actually being Mount and Blade 2.Perhaps the best part is that modders have taken the additional things you can do and produced an overwhelmingly awesome number of mods for Warband. Prophecy of Pendor, Floris, Brytenwalda, make the game shine. One should not play without mods for long. Basically play the vanilla version for a few hours to get the hang of it then install a mod. These mods add even more features and options.

The only problem I have with it is that Starwars conquest is only for the old game. Also, this is Mount&Blade 2, seeing as the next one is callled 'Mount&Blade 3:Bannerlord.
Mount & Blade: Warband. Update the mod or if you're impatient you can just download and install the 1.11 non-Steam client and update to 1.158 until it's fixed for.
